Culture

Ticino land of culture: from the Museum dedicated to Hermann Hesse to the LAC Cultural Centre and Bellinzona Castles, our region offers a wide variety of interesting cultural activities.

Hermann Hesse Museum

In Montagnola, only few minutes from the Resort Collina d’Oro, the little museum dedicated to the German writer Hermann Hesse hosts a permanent exhibition in the halls of the Torre Camuzzi, near the first home of the Nobel Prize winner, who spent 40 years in the South of the Alps from 1919. An excellent audio-guide in Italian and German accompanies the visitor through the pleasant landscapes of the Collina d'Oro, that the writer particularly loved.

Bellinzona Castles

The Castles of Bellinzona are one of Ticino's main attractions and represent a unique Medieval military complex in the Alpine region, part of the UNESCO World Heritage. A visit to the three castles, also connected by a tourist train, is like diving into history, thanks to the splendour of the fortifications with their high towers and crenelated walls. It is interesting to end the tour with a walk in Bellinzona’s historic centre especially on Saturdays, when you can see the local market.
